Russia Launches Drone Strikes in Ukraine, Kills 3 People

Russian drone strikes and bombs killed at least three people in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv overnight, regional officials reported. The attacks, which included Iranian-designed drones and Russian-guided bombs, also injured 56 people and damaged over 103 residential buildings.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia’s expanding drone technology is a major concern, citing cooperation between Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Zelenskyy urged the international community to increase pressure on Russia, saying that every hit on ordinary life proves that pressure is not enough.

Russian forces reportedly massed along the border of Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, which sits just 20 miles from the Russian border. The city has been bombarded throughout Russia’s full-scale invasion and faced intense recent attacks as Moscow expanded its drone and missile campaign.

According to Ukraine’s air force, Russia launched 85 drones and one missile into the country overnight, of which 49 were shot down or neutralized. One person was also killed and several injured in other parts of Ukraine due to Russian shelling.

The situation is being closely monitored by world leaders, including those in the United States, as Zelenskyy emphasized that real diplomacy depends on increased pressure from the international community.
