Russia Plane Crash Kills Dozens Including Children

A Soviet-era passenger plane carrying 49 people, including five children, crashed in Russia’s Amur region on Thursday, killing everyone on board. The Antonov An-24 aircraft went missing while flying from Khabarovsk to Blagoveshchensk and Tynda.

The plane was spotted with its wreckage on a mountain slope 10 miles from Tynda by a search helicopter. Authorities have launched investigations into the cause of the crash, which occurred after the pilot failed to land safely twice.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been informed about the incident, and the government has set up a special commission to deal with it. The Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office said the aircraft was attempting to land when it crashed, but there were no distress calls issued by the crew. The area where the plane went missing is remote and difficult to reach, with swampy forests in the way.

Search operations are ongoing, with all necessary forces involved. A hotline has been set up for families of those on board and anyone affected by the crash. The Amur region has declared three days of mourning.
