Russia’s forces captured a village in eastern Ukraine amid its campaign to seize control of the Donetsk region. A strike on southern Kherson region hit an oncology hospital, but there were no casualties.
In diplomacy news, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met CIA Director William Burns, marking their last meeting before Burns’ departure from his post.
Meanwhile, a Russian man has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for passing information about Russian soldiers to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. Russia’s response to the attack in Kursk region is expected to be “long in coming”, according to its permanent representative at the UN.
