Moscow was targeted by drones from Ukraine for a second time this week, with city authorities confirming that air defense systems downed four unmanned aircraft near the Russian capital. The Moscow Mayor’s office said emergency crews were dispatched to areas where debris had fallen.
Meanwhile, in southern Russia’s Krasnodar region, an overnight strike at the Tuapse oil refinery triggered a large fire, but no injuries were reported. The refinery is one of Russia’s largest and processes 12 million metric tons of oil annually.
Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russian energy infrastructure with long-range drone strikes, which it describes as retaliation for Moscow’s missile attacks that have crippled its power grid and left millions without electricity. Russia’s Defense Ministry said it intercepted or destroyed 28 Ukrainian drones across six Russian regions overnight, including four over the Moscow region.
The attacks have caused significant damage to Russia’s budget, reducing its ability to finance the war in Ukraine and weakening the military potential of the Russian army, according to a source at Ukraine’s Security Service.
