Russia’s Drone and Missile Strikes Kill 7 in Kyiv

At least seven people were killed and 28 injured in a Russian drone and missile attack on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on Monday. Mayor Vitali Klitschko described the attack as “terrible” and blamed it on Moscow.

The Ukrainian air force said Russia launched 352 drones and 16 missiles into the country overnight, with most hitting Kyiv. However, Ukraine’s air defense managed to shoot down or neutralize 339 drones and 15 missiles, resulting in six direct hits and falling debris reported at 25 locations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack as “cynical” and said it included the use of North Korean ballistic missiles. He criticized Russia for its silence on its own bombardment of Ukrainian cities using Iranian-supplied attack drones.

Zelenskky met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer during his visit to London, where he discussed bolstering Ukraine’s air defense and cooperation in this area. The meeting aimed to secure stable funding for important projects, including the production of interceptor drones and long-range drones.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that its forces shot down 23 Ukrainian drones overnight. However, the exact number of Russian casualties is unknown.
