Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and residential areas, resulting in at least 11 civilian casualties and injuring over 119 people, including children. The attacks, which include ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, have been ongoing for recent weeks.
According to regional authorities, Moscow continues to reject a full ceasefire backed by the US and Ukrainian government. On April 18, Russian forces launched an Iskander-M missile and five Iskander-K cruise missiles against Ukraine, with air defenses successfully shooting down 23 drones and three cruise missiles.
The city of Kharkiv was targeted on April 18, with at least one person killed and 87 injured, including children. The attack damaged 20 apartment buildings, 30 houses, and an educational institution. A fire broke out on the premises of an enterprise, causing damage to 450 square meters.
Other regions also reported civilian casualties, including Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, where two people were killed and five injured in a heavy artillery strike against Nikopol; Donetsk Oblast, where three civilians were killed and six injured; and Kherson Oblast, where four people were killed and 25 injured. A drone attack on Sumy killed one civilian and injured another.
These ongoing attacks have resulted in significant damage to residential areas and infrastructure, highlighting the need for a ceasefire to protect innocent lives.
