Russia is increasingly willing to trigger “mass casualty events” in Europe, according to experts. Tensions between Moscow and European allies have reached a breaking point after Russia’s aggressive actions in Ukraine. Analysts believe Russia has begun secret attacks on European countries supporting Ukraine, including Britain. Chatham House’s Keir Giles cited an example showing Putin’s willingness to cause harm on European lands when required. The possibility of a nuclear threat is also growing, with some experts predicting devastating consequences for the UK and other European cities.
Recent incidents, such as an airliner crash in Lithuania that killed a crew member, have raised concerns about Russian involvement. Western security sources, however, allege Russia orchestrated a secret operation to plant incendiary devices on aircraft heading to the UK and Germany.
MI5 chief Ken McCallum has warned that Russia’s objective is to wreak “mayhem” in the UK, with the GRU military intelligence agency plotting to disrupt cities with arson, sabotage, and more. The escalating threat from Russia highlights the need for vigilance and cooperation among European allies to counter this growing menace.
