WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu will compete in the 3-point contest at this year’s WNBA All-Star Game, according to her confirmation after Sunday’s win. This is Ionescu’s second appearance in the event and comes a year after she won it in 2023 with a record-breaking 37 points in the final round. She’ll face competition from Mystics rookie Sonia Citron and possibly Fever star Caitlin Clark, who is rumored to be joining the contest.
Ionescu has earned her fourth All-Star nod this season, boasting a career-high 47 three-pointers made so far, tied for third most in the league. Her shooting percentage, however, remains at a career-low 32.4 percent from deep. The Liberty recently waived guard Marquesha Davis to create more financial flexibility on their roster.
Coach Sandy Brondello described the decision as “tough,” stating that they valued growth and improvement in her game over the past two years. If Davis clears waivers, she could be re-signed on a short-term deal or pursue opportunities elsewhere. Meanwhile, Nyara Sabally made a significant impact in Sunday’s win, recording four blocks, including both bigs Brittney Griner and Brionna Jones.
