Safeway has confirmed it will close its Pinole store in early April, but all employees will be transferred to other stores in the area. The company cited a lease ending as the reason for the decision.
The Pinole Safeway, located at 1421 Tara Hill Drive, is about three and a half miles from its new location in Hercules, where it will offer fresh produce, local products, and ready-to-serve options.
Meanwhile, employees from the San Francisco Fillmore-District store on Webster Street will be reassigned to other locations.
