Actor Saif Ali Khan has been discharged from Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, six days after being seriously injured in a knife attack during a burglary attempt at his Bandra home. He left for his residence, where heavy force has been deployed to prevent any infection.
Khan was advised complete bed rest for a week and not receive visitors due to the severity of his injuries. Heavy police presence is still visible outside his home as fans gather to catch a glimpse of him.
The attack occurred on Wednesday night when an intruder broke into Khan’s home, stabbing him six times, including one injury to his spine, which missed the spinal cord by 2mm. The attacker was armed with a wooden stick and a hexa blade.
Eliyama Philip, Saif Ali Khan’s caregiver for his sons Taimur and Jeh, reported that she first spotted the intruder at around 2 am. She claimed the man threatened to harm her if she made any noise and attacked her after she rushed to her son’s room.
Police have arrested Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national, for breaking into Khan’s home and attacking him. The accused was brought to Khan’s residence earlier today as part of an investigation into the incident.
Khan underwent plastic surgery for injuries on his arm and neck after being treated at the hospital. His condition has stabilized, allowing him to be discharged from hospital care.
