Actor Saif Ali Khan will receive round-the-clock security after a shocking knife attack at his Mumbai home. The police constable assigned to guard him is expected to be present throughout the day. Mr. Khan, 54, was stabbed six times during a burglary attempt and narrowly escaped with his life.
The police have arrested a Bangladeshi national for the crime. Shariful Islam Shehzad has confessed to breaking into Khan’s home through the air-conditioning ducts. The security guards were asleep at the time of the attack, allowing the intruder to gain entry.
Eyewitness Eliyama Philip, who is close to Khan’s sons Taimur and Jahangir, spotted the intruder and alerted her husband. She described how the attacker approached them, threatening to harm them if they made any noise. However, she managed to block his attack with her hands before the actor intervened.
The incident occurred at around 2 am when Philip woke up to find the bathroom door open and the light on. She quickly alerted Khan’s wife Kareena Kapoor Khan, who rushed out of their room along with Saif Ali Khan. The intruder was eventually subdued by the family members, allowing him to escape through the air-conditioning duct.
Khan suffered serious injuries, including stab wounds on his back, neck, and arm, which required plastic surgery. He has been advised rest for at least a week after recovering from the attack.
