The New Orleans Saints have officially eliminated quarterback Jake Haener from starting in Week 1 after waiving him on Tuesday as they approach the 53-player limit. According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, this move confirms that Haener will no longer be considered for the role. Initially listed alongside Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough as the first-string quarterback, it became clear that Haener trailed behind his peers in the depth chart. Despite being a 2023 fourth-round pick, Haener only saw limited action last season, starting one game and throwing for 226 yards with a touchdown and interception.
