A nationwide outbreak of Salmonella has affected 68 people in 19 states across the United States, with a total of 26 states and parts of Canada also under recall. The infected cucumbers were distributed by SunFed Produce, Baloian Farms, and Russ Davis Wholesale, and were grown by Agrotato, S.A. de C.V. in Mexico.
Federal authorities are urging consumers to discard the affected cucumbers and products containing them, as more cases of contamination may emerge. Health officials have reported 18 hospitalizations among those impacted, with symptoms including diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps.
The recalled products include whole cucumbers and pre-packaged items sold between October 12 and November 26. The FDA and CDC are investigating the outbreak, warning consumers to be vigilant as more cases may arise.
