Sam Altman Outmaneuvered Elon Musk for Trump’s AI Policy Backing

Sam Altman, the CEO of Y Combinator, quietly won over President Donald Trump to support his artificial intelligence policies. Initially, it seemed that Elon Musk would dominate the country’s A.I. landscape after helping Trump get elected.

However, Altman exploited a previously reported meeting between himself and Howard Lutnick, Trump’s nominee for Commerce Secretary, in Palm Beach, not Palm Springs. This unexpected move allowed Altman to gain momentum with the administration.

The New York Times had earlier stated that the meeting took place in Palm Springs, but acknowledged the mistake in a correction.
