Former Texas Longhorns offensive lineman Sam Cosmi will miss the remainder of the postseason due to a torn ACL suffered in Saturday’s NFC divisional round win over Detroit.
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the injury during a press conference on Sunday, describing it as “unfortunate.” Trent Scott took over the bulk of the snaps in relief of Cosmi, but the team will assess potential matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC championship game if they stick with Scott at offensive guard.
Cosmi’s recovery will likely impact his availability for a portion of next season. Despite this, he remains guaranteed his $15.5 million salary for 2025 and is under contract through the 2027 season. As a second-round pick in the 2021 draft, Cosmi has started 49 games and appeared in 57 throughout his four-year tenure with the Commanders.
