Sam Mendes’ Four-Part Beatles Biopic to Hit Theaters in 2028

Sam Mendes is set to bring the Beatles to life on the big screen with a four-part biopic, which will be released theatrically in April 2028. The films will star Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon.

Mendes’ vision is to capture the Beatles’ story from each member’s perspective, with four standalone features that will tell their individual journeys from Liverpool to global fame. The project, titled “The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event,” promises to be a massive cinematic experience.

“We need big cinematic events to get people out of the house,” Mendes said at CinemaCon. He hopes that by releasing all four films together, he can create a binge-worthy theatrical experience that will allow audiences to fully immerse themselves in the Beatles’ story.

Principal photography is expected to take a year, with the films being shot simultaneously for maximum impact. The project also marks the first time a narrative feature has been granted music rights to the Beatles’ extensive catalog of hits.

Mendes has long been a fan of the Beatles and has dreamed of bringing their story to life on screen. With this ambitious project, he aims to give audiences a deeper understanding of the Fab Four’s journey to global fame.
