Samsung Activates Anti-Theft Features on Galaxy Devices

As phone theft incidents continue to rise worldwide, Samsung has launched its latest anti-theft features to help users safeguard their data. The company’s One UI 7 update includes advanced security measures such as Theft Protection and Identity Check, designed to protect personal data even in high-risk situations.

The new Theft Protection feature uses machine learning to detect suspicious activity and instantly locks the screen to prevent unauthorized access. This is combined with Offline Device Lock, which automatically locks the device if it’s disconnected from the network for an extended period. Additionally, Remote Lock allows users to regain control of their account and explore recovery options if the device has been stolen.

The update also includes new Anti-Robbery features such as Identity Check and Security Delay. Identity Check requires biometric authentication in unfamiliar locations, while Security Delay triggers a one-hour waiting period before unauthorized access can occur.

Galaxy devices from previous flagship models, including the Galaxy S24 series and Z Fold6, are eligible for these updates. Samsung plans to roll out the feature to more devices throughout the year.

For users who lose or have their device stolen, Samsung offers several remote features. These include the ability to remotely lock, erase data, change account passwords, and track the device’s location using Wi-Fi or mobile data signals. Regularly backing up data to the cloud is recommended to ensure it can be restored on a new device.

To activate these anti-theft features, users should follow Samsung’s guidelines, which include signing into Samsung Find using their Samsung account and selecting Lost Mode for their device. This allows users to create a PIN, add an emergency contact, and display a custom message on the locked screen, providing a layer of protection against unauthorized access.
