Samsung has introduced a new option to turn off HDR content on its Galaxy devices with the release of One UI 7, part of its Android 15 update. This feature, found under Settings > Advanced features > Super HDR, disables the full brightness of HDR content when running in apps.
Prior to this update, similar functionality was available only through the Samsung Gallery app. However, the new toggle works system-wide and has been tested with third-party apps such as Instagram, although a restart may be required for HDR output to fully disable after toggling it off.
The “Super HDR” feature uses Google’s “Ultra HDR” format, making this setting applicable to any content using this format, not just Samsung Galaxy devices. The update, currently available on the Galaxy S24 series in beta, will roll out to more devices in 2025 and includes other notable changes, such as an AI-powered summary for the “Now Bar.”
