Samsung Auto: A Regional Android Alternative for Chinese Galaxy Phones

Samsung offers an alternative to Android Auto, called “Samsung Auto,” specifically designed for its Galaxy phones sold in China. The app uses Bixby as a voice assistant and is said to be built on existing features. It supports connecting to vehicles via Baidu CarLife+ or ICCOA CarLink with wired and wireless connections.

A dashboard-style display shows navigation maps, music controls, and one other widget at a time, similar to Android Auto and CarPlay. Users can access four apps along the side of the display. Notable features include “Quick Navigation” which allows for phone-to-car and car-to-phone continuity, automatic address recognition, and recognizing addresses from messages.

These features are currently exclusive to Samsung’s platform, working with Chinese apps only. The connection to vehicles requires major updates, making a global expansion unlikely. Users in regions where Samsung Auto is not available cannot access these features.
