Samsung has improved several features with the recent One UI 7.0 update, including faster Ethernet speeds on select devices. The upgrade now supports 2.5Gbps Ethernet connections, a significant increase from the previous 1Gbps speed.
This change was discovered by a Reddit user who tested it on their mother’s Galaxy S24 Ultra running One UI 6.1 and found that it either throttled or didn’t work at all with an SABRENT USB C to 2.5 Gbps Ethernet adapter. However, when they updated the device to One UI 7.0, they were able to take full advantage of the faster speeds.
The improved Ethernet connectivity is available on select Galaxy devices that support a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port. Most Galaxy S smartphones and tablets are compatible with this upgrade, suggesting it may be rolled out to these devices in the near future.
