Samsung Boosts Foldable Production Ahead of US Tariffs

Samsung plans to increase foldable phone production in the US ahead of looming tariffs. In contrast to its struggling Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone, which sold fewer units than expected, the company is now aiming to manufacture more foldable phones for the US market.

The move is a response to the anticipated impact of US tariffs on Samsung’s business. To mitigate this, the company will produce 600,000 units of Galaxy Z7 foldable phones in June, an increase from its initial plan of 400,000 units. The total production for the month remains lower than initially expected due to a shift towards a more steady production rate.

The focus on foldable phones comes after Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series is announced, with an Edge model replacing the traditional Plus model. This change aims to revamp the company’s sales strategy and alleviate concerns about weak performers in its previous models. With 930,000 units planned for production, the Z Fold 7 will account for approximately half of this total, indicating a strong demand for foldable phones in the US market.
