Samsung Fold 7 & Flip 7 Battery Life Results – Marginal Gains

Samsung has released its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, but how do they fare in terms of battery life? After conducting extensive tests, our results show that both phones have improved slightly over their predecessors, but still trail behind other devices.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7, with a 4,400mAh battery, posted a modest gain of 20 minutes over the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s 10 hours and 35 minutes. However, when compared to other devices like the OnePlus Open and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which have larger screens but more powerful batteries, Samsung’s foldable phone falls short.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7, on the other hand, saw a more substantial gain in our battery life test, with an 11-minute improvement over the Galaxy Z Flip 6. However, it still lags behind Motorola’s foldable flip phones, which continue to outlast Samsung’s offerings.

While Samsung deserves credit for improving battery life on both devices, the gains are marginal at best. If the company wants to make its foldables more appealing to consumers, it needs to make bigger strides in this area.

The current leaderboard for our best phone battery life list shows that Samsung still has some ground to cover if it wants to challenge other top smartphones. As we continue to test and review new devices, it’s clear that foldable phones face a unique longevity challenge due to their larger screens and limited battery space.
