Samsung has announced that its Galaxy phones will start receiving the stable Android 15 update, also known as One UI 7, in April. Despite earlier promises of a March upgrade for new flagships, the company is now revising its timeline due to perfection of the OS.
The delay has been frustrating for users who are missing out on Google’s latest security and privacy features, which are crucial at a time when mobile threats are becoming more prevalent. Android 15 is a major update that includes improved scam detection, live threat protection, and enhanced defenses against USB and network attacks.
A leaked report suggests that the update might arrive sooner than expected, with some Galaxy S24 models potentially receiving it as early as April 1st, while S23 owners may have to wait until April 14th. However, Samsung’s delay has also led to a U.S. government warning due to two zero-day security threats that were not included in the company’s March security release.
The revised timeline is a welcome surprise for some Galaxy S24 users who have been waiting for months for their device to receive the update. Nevertheless, the delay highlights the ongoing challenge of keeping up with the latest security and privacy innovations in the fast-paced world of mobile technology.
