Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge to Launch Thinner Than Expected

Samsung’s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge, is set to defy traditional design norms with its sleek and slim aesthetic. The company had considered two prototypes with different thickness levels and camera configurations before deciding on the 5.84mm-thin variant that will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

The thinner version of the device will feature a 200MP rear camera, but only one camera, unlike previous reports that suggested it would have a triple-camera setup. The second prototype had a thicker design with an additional camera, which Samsung likely compromised on to prioritize the ultra-thin design.

The Galaxy S25 Edge’s slim design may come at a cost in terms of performance and battery life. The device is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, but its overclocked version on Geekbench 6 showed lower multi-core scores compared to other Galaxy S25 models. This could result in reduced battery capacity and slower charging speeds.

The smartphone will have a 3,900mAh cell with support for up to 25W fast charging. Samsung’s design choice may be intentional, as the iPhone 17 Air competitor is set to launch sometime in April. The company’s strategy remains unclear, but one thing is certain – the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to generate significant buzz due to its unique design and features.
