Samsung has seemingly confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S25 series will support the Qi2 wireless charging standard. According to the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), 2025 will witness an acceleration in the adoption of the Qi2 standard from Android manufacturers.
The Qi2 standard is a universal wireless charging technology that supports more efficient wireless charging and incorporates magnetic locking support to ensure proper alignment between devices and accessories. While there have been conflicting rumors about whether the Galaxy S25 series will support Qi2, Samsung has confirmed that some Samsung Galaxy devices will support Qi2 this year.
In fact, the WPC now says that many Android phones will support Qi2, making it likely that the Galaxy S25 will also feature the required hardware. Google is also on board with Qi2, having committed to playing a leading role in the development of the upcoming Qi v2.2 standard.
This marks an exciting development for wireless charging technology, as 2025 promises to see Android devices supporting Qi2 from Samsung Galaxy devices and beyond. With Samsung’s confirmation, it seems that Qi2 will be a key feature on the Galaxy S25 series, offering faster and more efficient wireless charging capabilities.
