Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 family of smartphones will boast impressive performance, thanks to the use of Qualcomm’s latest system-on-chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This move marks a significant shift from previous years, when some models were equipped with the in-house Exynos chipset.
In recent weeks, rumors and leaks have suggested that Samsung might consider a split lineup between Snapdragon and Exynos, but industry commentator IceUniverse has now confirmed that all Galaxy S25 series devices will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This decision should provide consumers with a consistent level of performance across the portfolio.
The change in approach comes as no surprise, given the advantages of the Snapdragon chipset over its Exynos counterpart. A recent Geekbench benchmarking session spotted the Exynos 250 chipset, but IceUniverse’s statement confirms that this will not be used on any Galaxy S25 models.
Another development in the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is the potential for a new design. Industry sources suggest that the company has been testing an Exynos-based device, which could be based on the upcoming Galaxy S25+. However, its release is reportedly delayed and may follow a slimmer form factor similar to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
The debate surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S25’s specifications will likely continue until mid-January, when the company is expected to unveil new details at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The event will also feature announcements about next-generation generative artificial intelligence for Samsung smartphones.
