Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, boasts a new design with subtly curved edges and flat sides. However, a recent teardown by JerryRigEverything has raised concerns about the phone’s durability. The camera rings, which were inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold 6, are not securely attached to the device and appear to be glued in place instead of being firmly fastened.
This design flaw could lead to issues such as dust accumulation under the space where the camera lenses are mounted, and even minor tugs on the cameras might cause them to come off. In a demonstration by JerryRigEverything’s Zack Nelson, the phone’s display was also found to be easier to scratch than its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, due to Samsung’s softer display material.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra starts shipping on February 7, but this design flaw may raise questions about the phone’s durability and long-term reliability. With a price tag of $1,300, buyers should expect more robust construction from a flagship device.
