Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra will be powered by its Galaxy AI software, marking a significant update to the company’s artificial intelligence suite. The launch event scheduled for this week’s Galaxy Unpacked is expected to reveal new features and innovations in AI.
In 2024, Samsung introduced Galaxy AI as part of its Galaxy S24 family, which successfully gained traction with consumers. Google’s Pixel series also launched AI-powered smartphones last year, but Samsung’s simultaneous introduction brought AI to the mainstream market. Kantar Research reports that nearly 1 in 4 Galaxy S24 buyers purchased their device on the strength of AI.
However, Apple still lags behind in terms of its own AI initiatives, which have not yet been fully rolled out. In contrast, Samsung is poised to announce significant updates to its AI suite at the upcoming event.
Several major manufacturers now offer AI-powered smartphones, with each release increasing the acceptance and importance of this feature. According to IDC’s Anthony Scarsella, “GenAI-capable devices are locked and loaded and look to be the next big thing the industry has to offer consumers.”
The Galaxy S25 family is expected to include features such as Homework AI, Music Search, improved Routines, and YouTube Notes. Additionally, Gemini AI integration for Now Bar, Samsung Calendar, Samsung Notes, and Samsung Reminder will be supported.
One potential surprise at the launch event could be the unveiling of an Android XR headset, dubbed Project Moohan, in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm. This would rival Apple’s Vision Pro and feature Google’s generative AI service.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s launch marks a significant opportunity for Samsung to extend its lead in the market and shape the future of AI integration, acceptance, and pricing for consumers.
