Samsung Galaxy S26 Battery Hype Falls Flat

Samsung’s highly touted battery upgrade for its upcoming Galaxy S26 flagship has left many disappointed. The company is partnering with South Korea’s ITM Semiconductor to develop special battery protection circuits using epoxy molding compound (EMC), which could potentially improve battery life and durability.

However, instead of the expected large capacity boost, Samsung may be tempted to slim down the phone despite the new technology. This is because consumers have shown limited enthusiasm for thin phones, particularly when compared to other flagship models like Xiaomi and OnePlus.

In fact, devices like the OnePlus 13 already utilize silicon-carbon batteries that offer higher capacity without sacrificing size or weight. If Samsung were to adopt this technology, it could potentially surpass its rivals in terms of battery life.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is also expected to retain a 5,000 mAh battery cell, which may not be enough to keep up with the competition. The iPhone 17 Pro Max and Nothing Phone (3) have already made headlines for their larger batteries, with the latter boasting a 5,150 mAh cell.

It seems that Samsung is still on the wrong track when it comes to prioritizing battery life over aesthetics. Instead of focusing on slim profiles, the company should embrace larger batteries and incorporate advanced technologies like EMC to justify its flagships as industry leaders.
