Samsung has rolled out its latest software update, One UI 7, which brings new features to its Galaxy S25 users. Two standout features are the Now Bar and Now Brief, designed to provide users with real-time information at their fingertips.
The Now Bar is Samsung’s answer to Live Activities on the iPhone, offering persistent notifications that stick at the top of the screen, even when locked. This feature allows users to stay up-to-date with important updates from critical apps, such as navigation instructions in Google Maps. The Now Bar also hosts the lock screen audio player widget and supports modes or routines set for muting notifications.
To customize the Now Bar, open Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Now Bar, where simple toggle switches allow users to control which apps are shown. Users can tap on any widget at the bottom of the lockscreen to see more information or launch the relevant app in full.
The new Now Brief uses AI to deliver personalized information across various apps, including current weather, day’s calendar schedule, news headlines, and local events. This feature can be launched by tapping on its widget or icon in the Edge panel, where users can customize content types and settings.
To use the Now Brief, tap on any element on screen to jump to a fuller view of the information. Users can also access full access from the Now Bar without unlocking their phone using an “Expand Now Brief without unlocking” toggle switch. With One UI 7, Samsung’s latest software update aims to provide users with a more streamlined and personalized experience.
