Samsung has unveiled its first XR headset, dubbed ‘Project Moohan,’ which will run on the company’s new operating system, Android XR. The headset is set to be the first device to utilize the “Hey Gemini” hotword for voice commands, a central feature of Google’s new AR/MR/VR ecosystem.
This move marks a significant shift, as “Hey Gemini” replaces the current “Hey Google” hotword used to access Google Assistant or Gemini on other devices. With Android XR, Samsung is positioning itself at the forefront of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technology.
Interestingly, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 series will also feature a next-generation AI-powered digital voice assistant, Bixby, powered by large language models (LLMs). This new version of Bixby boasts improved understanding of complex voice commands and context, making it more effective at completing tasks. As the company continues to innovate in AI technology, Android XR and its associated features are poised to shape the future of AR/VR experiences.
