Samsung Unveils Floating Tab Design in One UI 9.0

Samsung is testing a new design for its One UI interface, called floating pill-shaped bottom bars with round tabs. These replace the traditional rectangular bottom bar and rectangular tabs found in older versions of One UI. The new design aims to make the UI look more sophisticated while saving space.

The latest build of One UI 9.0 features a compact floating pill-shaped bottom bar compared to the current version (One UI 8.5). The rounder tabs may be intended to improve aesthetics and reduce visual clutter.

However, not everyone will appreciate this change. Some users might prefer the older design. It’s possible that Samsung could revisit this decision based on user feedback. For now, it seems that One UI 9.0 is still in its early stages, and the company hasn’t released a stable version yet. The new design may debut with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.
