Samsung has officially announced its mid-range Galaxy A series devices, including the Galaxy A56, which boasts improved hardware and camera capabilities. The device is set to start at $499 in the US and £499 in the UK, making it a more affordable option compared to its predecessor.
The Galaxy A56 features a 6.7-inch screen with thinner bezels than its predecessor, as well as a brushed metal frame. One notable design change is the introduction of a bump on the side where the volume and power buttons sit, which provides a comfortable grip.
In terms of camera capabilities, the device now sports an upgraded 12MP ultrawide, 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization, alongside a lower-res 12-megapixel selfie camera. The new cameras feature AI-powered enhancements, including enhanced subject detection in portrait mode and Object Eraser for editing photos.
Samsung’s mid-range devices also receive updates to their software, with the A56 running on One UI 7 and featuring improved home screen improvements and scalable widgets. The device is also expected to receive six generations of OS updates and six years of security updates.
The Galaxy A56 will go on preorder in the UK on March 2nd and launch on March 19th, with a starting price of $499. It will be available in four colors: Graphite, Olive, Pink, and Light Grey.
As the mid-range phone market heats up, Samsung’s latest device is poised to compete with other popular options like the iPhone 16e and upcoming Pixel 9a.
