Samsung is set to launch its next flagship device, the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The new phone will feature improved cameras, including a 12MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. The camera upgrade addresses a four-year-old mistake made by Samsung in its previous flagships.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s primary camera will retain its 200MP resolution but boast a newer lens and a laser AF sensor for faster focus. Additionally, the phone is expected to have a better ProVisual Engine for enhanced image quality. The new chipset will also enable faster performance and sustained performance.
Other key upgrades include the removal of camera rings from the back, a larger vapour chamber system, and 16GB RAM as standard across different storage variants. The device’s display features even thinner bezels, and it is expected to retain its IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Samsung has reportedly tested the new S Pen without a digitizer but found unsatisfactory results. As a result, the company will continue using the same S Pen as its previous flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s performance is expected to be fueled by Qualcomm’s 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 processor globally. However, there won’t be a Samsung Foundry-made 2nm version of the chip. The phone’s availability and pricing are not yet confirmed.
The new device is set to build upon its predecessor’s success and address some of the concerns raised by critics in the past. With improved cameras and performance, the Galaxy S26 Ultra promises to deliver an enhanced user experience for Samsung fans.
