Samuel L. Jackson Credits Bruce Willis with Career Advice

Samuel L. Jackson credits his late friend Bruce Willis for career advice that helped him achieve stability in Hollywood. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jackson recalled a conversation he had with Willis while shooting “Die Hard With A Vengeance” in 1994.

Willis advised Jackson to find a beloved character to fall back on for a stable career, citing examples of his own successful franchises like the “Die Hard” series and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Terminator” movies. Jackson took this advice to heart and eventually found his franchise character with Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Since joining the MCU, Jackson has appeared in 12 Marvel movies as Fury, reprised the role in two TV series and three games, and had box-office success in other franchises like “Star Wars.” While exact earnings are not reported, it’s clear that starring in successful franchises is a key factor in Jackson’s stable career.
