Sen. Bernie Sanders told a crowd of thousands at a rally in Los Angeles that the US is facing an “extraordinary danger” under President Donald Trump’s policies. Sanders criticized Trump’s efforts to advance billionaire interests over those of the working class, saying the country is living in an oligarchic form of society.
Sanders’ remarks came as part of his national “Fight Oligarchy” tour, where he has been speaking out against the Republican administration. He was joined by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who echoed his concerns about corporate influence and wealth inequality.
The rally, which featured musical icons Joan Baez and Neil Young, was Sanders’ largest yet, with over 36,000 supporters in attendance. Trump, on the other hand, attended an Ultimate Fighting Championship event in Miami, where he received applause from a large crowd of fans.
Sanders’ comments highlight the stark contrast between his message and Trump’s. The senator warned that the country’s response to this “extraordinary danger” will impact not only current lives but also future generations.
