Saquon Barkley is taking a stand against some of the NFL’s biggest fans after they booed Taylor Swift at last weekend’s Super Bowl in New Orleans. The running back, who was a guest on “The Howard Stern Show,” defended Swift, saying he didn’t understand why she was getting hate for attending the game with her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Barkley believes that Swift is actually helping to make the NFL more global and appealing to international fans. He pointed out that the league is making efforts to expand its reach, including traveling to Brazil and Mexico, and Swift’s presence at the game is a big part of that.
The Philadelphia Eagles star even went so far as to say that fans should be cheering for Swift, not booing her. Stern agreed with Barkley, saying that it’s just a game and people should lighten up.
Swift may not have been involved in the action on the field during SB LIX, but she will likely be back at games next season if Kelce returns to Kansas City. And Barkley hopes that fans will show more appreciation for her when she attends in the future.
