Saquon Barkley Won’t Join Trump’s Sports Council

Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley has declined an invitation from President Donald Trump to serve on his newly reestablished Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. The council was signed into existence by Trump on July 31 with the goal of addressing declining health and physical fitness in America. Other members include NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa, Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa, and NBA’s Paul “Triple H” Levesque. Barkley, a Penn State product, expressed surprise at being named to the council but stated he couldn’t accept due to his busy schedule with the Eagles. Trump had previously praised Barkley as a “nice guy”, but didn’t say how he felt after Barkley declined the invitation.
