Savage Cat Food Recalled Due to Bird Flu Concerns

The New York City Health Department has issued a warning to residents about feeding their pets food from “Savage Cat Food” after two cats and a suspected third cat were infected with bird flu over the past two months. The product, specifically poultry packets lot number 11152026, is being recalled due to concerns over potential contamination.

The recall affects large and small chicken boxes distributed in New York as well as Pennsylvania, California, Colorado, and Washington. The FDA advises people who fed their cats this recalled food to watch for symptoms of bird flu, which may include respiratory issues and increased risk of infection.

To protect their pets, the Health Department recommends avoiding raw food or raw milk consumption, keeping cats indoors, and being cautious when walking dogs outdoors to avoid coming into contact with potentially infected animals.
