Savannah Guthrie, the “Today” anchor, has broken her silence on her 2005-2009 divorce from BBC journalist Mark Orchard. On a recent appearance on Monica Lewinsky’s podcast, Guthrie described the split as “horrible and sad” that took years to recover from.
Guthrie revealed that she chose not to share the details of her divorce in her memoir, citing it as something that broke her heart and was too personal. She admitted that some aspects of their marriage were “too embarrassing” and wanted to spare readers.
However, Guthrie did open up about her current husband, Michael Feldman, 56, whom she married in 2014. The couple has two children together and Guthrie emphasized the importance of her faith in her life. She recalled that after a five-and-a-half-year dating period, they finally got together and eventually tied the knot.
Guthrie also discussed how her experiences with divorce and wanting to start a family later in life affected her. At 36, she got divorced and was initially disappointed, feeling as though she had lost her opportunity for love and motherhood.
