Scania Reenters Bid for Northvolt’s Battery Pack Unit

Scania has rekindled its interest in buying Northvolt’s battery pack unit, which is now up for sale due to the bankrupt Swedish company’s collapse. In February, Scania offered $6 million for the unit but the deal was put on hold following Northvolt’s bankruptcy.

An unnamed consortium had made a higher bid for the asset, but the decision on any further sales lies with the bankruptcy trustee. The trustee is now responsible for evaluating offers and determining the best course of action.

Scania’s renewed interest in the unit comes as the Swedish company seeks to bolster its electric vehicle offerings. With Northvolt’s battery pack unit on the table, Scania can expand its own production capabilities and improve its competitiveness in the rapidly growing EV market.
