Scottie Scheffler is still in command at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, maintaining a six-shot lead after the weather-delayed second round on Saturday. The top-ranked player carded two low rounds of 61 and 63, respectively, to take advantage of the delay. Scheffler’s impressive score has given him the largest lead in tournament history.
Not far behind is Sam Stevens, who shot consecutive 65s and moved to 12 under through two rounds without bogeying a single hole. This marks Stevens’ first time achieving this feat in his 82 PGA Tour starts.
Jordan Spieth also had a strong round, closing with two birdies over the final four holes to get to 6 under. The Dallas residents are seeking their first victory at the Nelson course.
Ricky Castillo and Kurt Kitayama are tied for third place at 11 under. Rasmus Hojgaard of Denmark and Jhonattan Vegas of Venezuela round out the top five, with Hojgaard and Vegas trailing by three strokes. Journeyman Rico Hoey shot a 73 to fall back from his initial second-round position. The tournament is now set to continue on Sunday.
