Scientists Discover ‘Atmospheric Gravity Waves’ During Solar Eclipse

NASA has confirmed that over 800 students participating in an experiment during the April 2024 solar eclipse observed unusual patterns in the Earth’s ionosphere. By bouncing high-frequency radio waves off the ionosphere, researchers found that the ionosphere rises as the Moon blocks the Sun, then returns to normal as it moves on. This phenomenon has been identified as “atmospheric gravity waves.” The discovery was made possible through early results of experiments conducted by NASA and participants during the eclipse event.
