Seattle Seahawks General Manager John Schneider has revealed that Jalen Milroe was “damn close” to being considered the team’s highest-rated quarterback, according to Schneider. However, he emphasized that Milroe is a unique player who will be developed as a quarterback and add something special to the team.
Schneider praised Milroe’s speed, which measured at 21.2 miles per hour during in-game workouts. He also highlighted Milroe’s academic achievements, winning the William Campbell Award – Academic Heisman Award. The young quarterback has had four different offensive coordinators and is known for his hard work ethic.
Milroe’s arrival will create a dynamic in Seattle, where the team currently uses Sam Darnold on a year-to-year contract. Schneider stated that whenever the Seahawks believe Milroe is ready to take over, Darnold’s contract will expire, making Milroe the next potential franchise quarterback. The third-round pick has the potential to become the next Seattle superstar after becoming a first-round sensation 13 years ago.
