Seahawks Trade Sam Howell to Vikings in Latest Move

The Seattle Seahawks have made another move in their quarterback room, trading Sam Howell to the Minnesota Vikings. Just a few months ago, the Seahawks acquired Howell via trade from Minnesota.

In a surprising turn of events, the Seahawks decided to pass on Howell again, sending him back to the team that originally traded him away. Meanwhile, the Vikings lost quarterback Sam Darnold to the Seattle Seahawks this offseason and have now gained Howell as part of a swap.

The original trade compensation for Sam Howell was a first-round pick in 2025, which the Seahawks received from the Minnesota Vikings. However, instead of using it to select a player, they traded it to the Los Angeles Rams, who used it to select Chris Paul Jr.

The Vikings then acquired the pick and used it to select Notre Dame defensive tackle Rylie Mills at pick 142. They also retained another pick that was originally owned by Jacksonville, Houston, and Minnesota before being passed to Seattle. With these picks, the Vikings now have two more assets in their quarterback room.

To complete the trade, the Vikings took Penn State linebacker Kobe King and Pittsburgh tight end Gavin Bartholomew with their remaining draft picks. The move marks a significant development in the Seahawks’ quarterback room and gives the Vikings a new player to build around.
