Singer Sean Kingston and his mother Janice Turner have been found guilty of federal wire fraud charges. A jury delivered the verdict after a five-day trial, convicting them on all counts. Turner was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals, while Kingston’s bond terms will be modified to include home detention with electronic monitoring.
The duo faces up to 20 years in prison for each count. Their lawyers have stated they plan to appeal the verdict. The pair allegedly used Kingston’s celebrity status to defraud victims and never paid for goods and services worth over $800,000.
Turner was accused of keeping luxury items such as three watches valued at $765,000, a $160,000 car, and audio/video equipment worth $40,000 after making fake wire transfers. Kingston also allegedly persuaded vendors to provide goods before full payment. The case against them is ongoing, with state-level charges in Florida still pending trial.
