Seattle Storm Acquires Brittney Sykes from Washington Mystics

The Seattle Storm has made a significant move to strengthen its roster, acquiring WNBA star Brittney Sykes from the Washington Mystics. In exchange for Sykes, the Mystics received veteran forward Alysha Clark, guard Zia Cooke, and one of Seattle’s 2026 first-round draft picks.

Sykes, a two-time WNBA All-Defensive Team selection, has established herself as a key player in the league. This season, she earned her first All-Star nod and led the team in steals for multiple years. With Sykes on board, the Storm aims to improve its defense and scoring capabilities.

Meanwhile, Clark is set to return to Seattle after two stints with the franchise (2012-2020, 2025). She will join Cooke, who has shown promise as a young player. The Mystics hope that the trade will help them rebuild their roster for future success.

This acquisition marks an exciting new chapter for the Storm, which is looking to build on its recent championship wins. With Sykes leading the charge, the team is poised to make a strong push for another title in 2025.
