A security guard at a Kroger store in Memphis opened fire on a man suspected of stealing meat from the store, according to police. The incident occurred on Sunday at around noon when the suspect attempted to leave the store with several items.
When confronted by the guard, the suspect claimed that a friend had the receipt. He then proceeded to drive away, prompting the guard to follow him. During the chase, the vehicle nearly hit the security guard’s toes.
In an attempt to apprehend the suspect, the guard fired once at the left rear tire of his car. The suspect drove away from the scene.
Kroger has stated that no arrests have been made and the officer is still experiencing minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
