NASA is launching Earth Day 2025 with a unique online interactive that lets users see their name in space. With “Your Name in Landsat,” users can type in their name and view it spelled out in Earth features found in Landsat images.
As an exploration agency, NASA has been studying our planet for over 60 years to better understand its workings. The agency operates more than 20 satellites in orbit and sponsors hundreds of research projects to improve its understanding of the oceans, ice, atmosphere, life, and land cover.
NASA’s Earth Science Division uses data from Landsat, a joint venture between NASA and the USGS, to monitor changes on Earth’s landscapes. This includes tracking crop growth, detecting wildfires, and observing how landscapes are changing.
To celebrate Earth Day 2025, NASA is sharing this unique interactive tool that lets users see their name in space. Users can view images of various locations around the world, including glaciers, oceans, and deserts, and have their name appear as part of the landscape.
