The US Seed Oil Free Alliance has launched a new product finder webpage to help consumers find certified products that are free from seed oils. The alliance has set strict quality standards for brands displaying the ‘Seed Oil Free Certified Seal’, which includes sourcing fats and oils that meet stringent purity protocols.
Certified brands such as Vita Coco, Daily Crunch, and Zero Acre Farms have demonstrated their commitment to using only permitted oils and refined fats like olive oil, avocado oil, and coconut oil. These products can be searched across various categories, including plant-based milks, nut mixes, protein bars, and ice cream.
To qualify for the certification, all foods bearing the ‘Seed Oil Free Certified’ seal must undergo laboratory testing to confirm they are free from seed oils like soyabean, corn, and canola. The alliance claims that 28% of Americans actively avoid refined seed oils due to concerns about chronic diseases.
The launch comes as part of a wider anti-seed oil backlash and US Health and Human Service Secretary Robert Kennedy’s Jr’s claims that seed oils cause chronic diseases. However, some experts disagree, citing the lack of evidence supporting negative claims about seed oils.
Consumers can now easily find certified products by visiting the product finder webpage on the alliance’s website. This move is expected to meet the surging national demand for seed oil-free options and help companies eliminate refined seed oils from their supply chain.
